Jangsaengminhwa (Fork Painting for Longevity) Enriched with Mountains and Rivers

Chang, In Young Arts World Expressive of National spirit and Feeling.

Written by Kim, Nam Soo / Arts Critic

The foundation of Korean arts genre and style lies in Landscape Painting, of which Jangsaengdo (Longevity Painting) has been told to express our national spirit as the material and denotation, very closely. That is, Jangsaengdo (Longevity Painting) can place the top among subjects, since there is no other arts style excelling Shipjangsaengdo (Ten Longevity Painting) to confirm the identity of Korean Arts. In lights of theme, spirit, technique, and material, Jangsaengdo (Longevity Painting) has taken the position as a representative art style in Korea.

I want to congratulate him on his Solo Private View by Art Center Berlin from the bottom of my heart and say that his resolute efforts in arts impress me deeply.

With his artistic interest ranging over all the styles of the west and Asia, he has been eagerly and deeply working on them, for example, in water colour, oil paint, landscape, still life etc until he is satisfied. After a long time of an endless practice, he finally finds a ground to make his own rootjangsaengdo (Longevity Painting).
He has an outstanding power of dessin, line drawing, and spacial construction, which surely come from his firm basic pratice.
A concentrative study of ShipJangsaengdo (Ten Longevity Painting) in Occidental painting shows that it is of an entirely different nature from typical Korean arts. It can be said as his unque ground that he finally stands out.
In conclusion, I think that he is indicating a progressive, future-oriented direction to artistic field in the light of his selection of subject, materials, and his concepts.

His artistic world shows an earnest effort, painstaking consciousness, and attitude of honest artists. His arts, claims that Nature reorganizes ineternal thoughts of humans and serves as an impact effect to draw his works.   He reconstructs nature with his own contemplation in an unique method. And his preferred style of drawing rides the mainstream of the world sensitively. In this sense, he must be definitely a Promising artist.
